24 Hours of Erock - Race Report

The race was held down near Larkspur Colorado.  It would consist of an 8.25 mile loop.  Each team had timing chips that counted laps.  Most laps wins, pretty simple.  This was my 3rd year racing in Erock.  The first year my wife and I competed in the 2-3 coed category with just the 2 of us.  Very stressful, but rewarding.  Last year we had a more casual team of 7 folks in the 7-8 coed category.  This year I recruited some of my fast friends to make a push at being competitive.

Tough Guy #1: Scott "Super Stud" Swaney
Tough Guy#: Alex "Thunderstruck" Sutherland
Super Chick, aka my wife: Donna "Golden Warrior" Aubakirova

How fortunate I was to race on this team.  It was so low stress operationally.  Everybody was in pretty good condition for the beginning of June.  The race conditions were perfect.  This was not great for our chances at winning.  We're more built to slog it out, the worse physically and mentally it was for everyone, the better I thought we would fair, especially toward the end.   Unfortunately the end was called early, due to massive lightening and wind storms.  So the race was done around 20, and when the final tally came, genghis khan's marauders had enough miles, 280, to claim 3rd place.  Overall it was an awesome experience.

Some post game, statistical analysis:

All numbers besides laps are minutes.
